We have just started creating the foundation of sustainable park, in Kigali, Rwanda.
In this blog post, we are going to share our step by step journey.
2022.1&2 – getting coffee seedlings
Rwanda is famous for coffees. In the beginning, we thought it is easy to find seedlings, but it was quite tough.
We have waited for the season to come, and finally managed to get 500 baby coffee seedlings from local nursery.
In February 2022, just before the heavy rainy season starts, we planted all the seedling to our sustainable park. As of now they are looking OK, so let’s hope it grows smoothly.
This is the first time for us to plant coffee tree, so the journey will be very interesting!
2022.2 – creating coffee nursery
In addition to planting coffee seedlings, we also started experimenting growing coffee from scratch.
We got plenty of coffee seeds, dried beans before roasting, and sowed them under the shade.
With the help of agronomist from one of the coffee company, this project started in February 2022.
It is said that it takes 6-8 weeks to see the result. Let’s see if the seed is surviving this weather.
2022.3 – planting fruits seedlings
Can you guess what this baby plant is?
Maybe you guessed it by checking it’s leaves. Yes, it’s banana.
In order to add various plants to our sustainable park, we planted many seedling to our land.
- Apple
- Avocado
- Banana
- Guava
- Lemon
- Macadamia
- Pomegranate
According to local farmers, planting should be done in March, before the rainy season.
It was quite a job, but we manage to plant more than 100 plants in a day!
Sustainable park project has just launched!
We found the place a while ago, and started creating our own plan on sustainable park.
Finally, with the start of 2022, actual work has launched. Let’s see how this journey will take us to.
This is just the beginning. There are so many other projects planned in the future, so please keep an eye on us!
